Refund policy

Returns and Refunds

Everything from here to the end of "Contact us" is the text to paste into Shopify at /policies/refund-policy. Square-bracketed items are for you to fill in.

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy is issued by APE Electronics Ltd trading as Dhanditech, company number 15126879, 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX ("we", "us"). It applies to every order placed through dhanditech.com, by email, by WhatsApp or by phone.

Consumer customers are individuals buying wholly or mainly for purposes outside their trade, business, craft or profession. Sections 2 to 5 set out your rights to cancel and how we handle returns.

Business customers are everyone else: limited companies, partnerships, sole traders, charities, venues, event companies, photographers, hire companies and anyone buying for use in a business. You are a business customer if any of the following apply: you order using a company name, VAT number or trade account; you ask for a VAT invoice in a business name; the goods are delivered to business premises; or you tell us the goods are for commercial hire or commercial use. Section 6 applies to you instead of sections 2 to 5.

Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights. If any part of this policy conflicts with the law, the law applies.

3. Consumer customers: your right to cancel stock items

If you are a consumer and you bought a stock item (anything that is not made to order under section 5), you may cancel for any reason under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

Deadline to tell us. You must tell us you are cancelling no later than 14 days after the day you, or someone you nominate (not the courier), receive the goods. If your order is delivered in several parts, the 14 days run from the day you receive the last part.

How to tell us. Email returns@dhanditech.com with your order number, or use the cancellation form at the end of this policy. A clear written statement is enough; you do not need to give a reason. Simply sending goods back, refusing a delivery or leaving a message with a courier does not count as cancelling. We will reply with a returns reference and the return address within 2 working days.

Deadline to return the goods. You must send the goods back, or hand them to our nominated carrier, no later than 14 days after the day you told us you were cancelling. Returns received without a returns reference, or outside this period, may be refused or refunded only after the deduction in section 4.

Return costs. You are responsible for the cost of returning the goods and for their safe arrival. Photo booths, mirror booths, 360 booths and flight cases are large, fragile freight: please use the original packaging and foam, send on an insured pallet or two-man courier service, and keep proof of dispatch. If you prefer, we can collect from a mainland UK address; the collection charge is [£X for booths / £Y for accessories] and will be deducted from your refund. Goods that reach us damaged because of inadequate packaging are treated under section 4.

4. Condition of returned goods and loss-in-value deduction

You may open the packaging and inspect the goods in the way you could in a shop. You may not use them. For a photo booth, mirror booth or 360 booth, inspection means looking at the unit and checking the contents; it does not include switching it on, installing software, registering licences, fitting the camera or printer, loading media, assembling the frame, applying vinyl or branding, or taking it to an event.

If you handle the goods beyond inspection, we may deduct from your refund the amount by which their value has fallen (regulation 34(9) of the 2013 Regulations). These units are sold new and sealed, and once they have been set up or used we can only resell them as open-box or used, at a lower price. The deduction is the difference between the new price and the price we can realistically resell the unit for, assessed on inspection and explained to you in writing with supporting evidence. As a guide:

Condition on return

Typical deduction

Unopened, or opened and inspected only, all packaging and accessories present

No deduction

Opened and set up, powered on or software activated, no marks

Up to 10% of the price paid

Used, marked, or sold on as used

Up to 25% of the price paid

Missing accessories, packaging, foam, keys, cables, licences or printer consumables

Replacement cost of the missing items

Damaged through use or poor return packaging

Cost of repair, or the full loss in value if not economically repairable

The total deduction for any single item will not exceed £400 or the price paid, whichever is lower. The deduction is for loss in value only; we do not charge restocking, handling or administration fees to consumers.

5. Made-to-order, custom and branded products

The right to cancel in section 3 does not apply to goods made to your specification or clearly personalised (regulation 28(1)(b) of the 2013 Regulations). This covers, without limitation: photo booths, mirror booths, 360 booths, enclosures and flight cases built or configured to your specification; booths or shells in a non-stock colour, finish or wrap; branded or printed marquees, gazebos, flags, banners, signage and display stands; printed packaging; branded workwear and apparel; vinyl, graphics and artwork; and any digital design, 3D render or web work.

For these products we go through an order and design process with you. Once you have approved the specification or artwork proof in writing and we have confirmed the order, production starts and the order cannot be cancelled, changed or returned for change of mind, and no refund is due. Before that point you may cancel, and we will refund what you have paid less any design time or materials we have already incurred, which we will itemise.

Please check every proof carefully. We print and build exactly what you approve, so we cannot accept returns for errors in approved artwork, colours as they appear on screen, or dimensions and specifications you confirmed. If a custom product has a manufacturing fault, section 7 applies.

6. Business customers

The 2013 Regulations and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 do not apply to business customers. If you buy as a business:

  • We do not accept returns or cancellations for change of mind, over-ordering, a change in your plans or events, or because the product does not suit your intended use. Once we have confirmed your order it is binding, and sections 3 and 4 do not apply.
  • Any return we agree to in an individual case is at our discretion, in writing, and subject to a restocking charge of [20]% of the price paid plus carriage, with the goods returned unused in original packaging within 7 days of our agreement.
  • Made-to-order and custom products (section 5) are never returnable.
  • Goods with a manufacturing fault are covered by our 2-year warranty: we will repair or replace the faulty unit or part. Repair or replacement is your sole remedy for faulty goods; we do not offer refunds to business customers except where we are unable to repair or replace within a reasonable time.
  • You must inspect goods on delivery and report any damage, shortage or wrong item within 48 hours. Claims after that are accepted only for faults that could not have been found on inspection.
  • Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

7. Faulty, damaged or incorrect goods

Damaged in transit or wrong item. Check your delivery before signing where possible, and tell us within 48 hours of delivery with photographs of the packaging and the goods. We will arrange collection at our cost and send a replacement, or the correct item, as soon as we can.

Manufacturing faults. All our equipment carries a 2-year warranty against manufacturing faults from the date of delivery. Email returns@dhanditech.com with your order number, a description of the fault and photos or video. We will diagnose remotely where we can, and otherwise arrange collection at our cost. We will then repair the unit, replace the faulty part, or replace the unit, without charge. This applies equally to made-to-order and custom products: a faulty custom product is repaired or remade to the approved specification.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by accident, misuse, transport by you or your customers, use outside the product instructions, unauthorised modification or repair, normal wear, consumables (printer media, ink, batteries) or software and settings changes made by you.

Your statutory rights as a consumer. If you are a consumer, nothing above limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which include the right to reject faulty goods for a full refund within 30 days of delivery, and the right to a price reduction or a refund if a repair or replacement has not resolved the fault. Where you reject goods for a fault, we refund in full, including any delivery charge paid, and we pay the return carriage.

8. Refunds

When we receive returned goods we inspect them within 5 working days and email you the outcome, including any deduction under section 4 with our reasons.

For a consumer cancellation under section 3 we refund within 14 days of the day we receive the goods back, or, if earlier, the day you send us proof that you have returned them. The refund covers the price paid and the standard delivery charge (if you chose a faster or premium delivery, we refund the standard rate). It does not cover return carriage or any collection charge, and is net of any deduction under section 4.

For faulty goods, we refund within 14 days of agreeing that you are entitled to a refund.

Refunds go back to the original payment method, including PayPal Pay in 3 and card instalments; we cannot refund to a different card or account. Your bank or card issuer may take a further 3 to 5 working days to show the money. If you have not received a refund 14 days after we confirmed it, contact us.

9. Exchanges

We do not run exchanges. If you want a different product, cancel under section 3 where that right applies and place a new order.
